Role: Manager, Thought Leadership
Location of work: Anywhere in Canada
About the Role
The CIO Strategy Council is looking for an exceptional communicator to join our team.
You will play a critical role in positioning the CIO Strategy Council to our stakeholders as a national leader in harnessing the collective expertise of Canada’s CIOs to mobilize on common digital priorities. You will develop a progressive research agenda and create engaging content to meet the Council’s business objectives. These objectives include providing value-added services to Council members, fostering relationships with partners, and developing national standards with stakeholders.
While the tactics will vary according to the business need, you can expect to create written and visual content including media communications (news releases, pitches, and op eds), social media posts, web content, members’ magazines, annual reports, research briefs, environmental scans, and partnership documents. You will seek out and foster thought leadership and engagement opportunities.
You will take on some administrative priorities primarily related to our accreditation as a standards development organization, member and partnership management, and organization technology stack.
You will report to the Vice President, Strategy and Partnerships, and will be in regular communication with the whole team.
What You Bring
You are an excellent communicator with exceptional clarity of thought and a knack for creating engaging content. You toggle seamlessly between diverse audiences and platforms. You explain complex ideas using plain language. An experienced researcher, you dive deep into topics and resurface with sophisticated analyses of the issues.
You are confident, self-directed, and a quick study, but not afraid to ask for help or own your mistakes. You are enthusiastic, upbeat, and always there for your team. Calm under pressure, you deliver under tight deadlines and can juggle multiple priorities. You are flexible and able to turn on a dime. You have excellent time management/organizational skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Have
You have experience working with a wide range of communications platforms, technologies, and tools for written and visual content. This includes WordPress, Elementor, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and Google Analytics.
Passionate about Canada’s digital transformation and creating a trusted digital ecosystem, you are well-versed in our domestic ICT ecosystem and issues like digital identity, data governance, cybersecurity, technology procurement, and the digital workforce.
What We Bring
The CIO Strategy Council is Canada’s national forum that brings together the country’s most forward-thinking chief information officers and executive technology leaders to collectively mobilize on common digital priorities. Cutting across major sectors of the Canadian economy – public, private and not for profit – the Council harnesses the collective expertise and action of Canada’s CIOs to accelerate Canada’s digital transformation. In 2019, the Standards Council of Canada accredited the CIO Strategy Council to develop National Standards of Canada supporting the data-driven economy.
Founded in 2017, the CIO Strategy Council operates like a high-growth start-up. You will join a small, collegial, cross-functional team. Experts in our own areas, we also appreciate that innovation comes from cross-pollination. While you are expert in content creation and communications, you will learn from your colleagues’ diverse backgrounds. In this role, you will gain excellent exposure to leading technology players and cutting-edge issues. While you will work from home, we move quickly, and you will have regular contact with your colleagues.
Compensation will be calculated based on individual experience and expertise. The range for this position is $45,000 to $85,000. We also offer comprehensive benefits and vacation.
